if she asked me to marry her I would have said y-e-s

There is was…the white paper bag on the kitchen counter…the next thing I know my friend Cristin was suggesting I look inside. I had a sneaky suspiscion it contained Lulu’s cupcakes (http://luluboston.com)

…not because I snuck a peak earlier, but because I’ve become familair with the plain-white paper bag and the awesome contents it usually holds (having lived in the North End for three years).

As I peeked over the top of the bag  – I saw it, the Lulu’s cupcake logo on the top of a half-dozen cupcake box. YA! I was excited at the thought of popping open the box and checking out the sure-to-be new flavors inside. So, I popped open the box and noticed something different – some pink frosting looped across the top of the six cupcakes. I squinted, I focused…and read outloud… ‘will you be my bridesmaid?’ – words can’t describe how surprised I was and all the happy thoughts whipping through my head. Oh my god, this is so nice, she is the best, how thoughtful, OF COURSE! (to name a few) – Cristin and I spent a few moments jumping up and down.

Trucking to the North End to pick up yummy desserts and bringing them home is a big deal…going to the North End to get your friend’s favorite dessert and creatively interweaving the request to be part of your big day – simply amazinnnggg. Best cupcakes I ever had. PERIOD.

Tried & True = Moroccan Oil

Like many products this was suggested to me by my mom – she’s my beauty inspiration. She told me it was pricey but the bottle would last awhile. I was told to put a small dime size amount of the oil in my hands, rub it around and then distributed onto my hair after blow drying and styling – avoiding the roots because it could make them greasy. My hair would be softer, less frizzy. I followed the orders.

#1. Love the smell, it smells exotic/vanilla-ish…hard to describe, because it’s really not like anything I’ve smelled before

#2. It makes my hair so soft and takes away frizz – it absorbed quickly and as long as I avoided my roots, it didn’t grease up my hair

Couple cons:

#1. I’ve been reading that Moroccan Oil is simply a silicone based product which is in many typical hair care products. In other words, it’s not necessarily this exotic hair-care miracle…and contains the same ingredients that you can find in lower priced products that have been on the market for awhile. Maybe they just have a smart marketing hook? (because I did feel like the Moroccan Oil worked better/differently than other products I’ve tried)

#2. It’s not cheap – a bottle can cost about ~$40 (but it lasts a very long time – considering you only need a dime-size amount – I think you could even get away with less – I use this amount and I have a lot of hair and it’s color treated)

I got a mini bottle at the salon and like this size the best because it was obviously cheaper and fits easily into my purse

Moroccan Oil is sold a various salons – you can also find it online: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AO0WCG/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001RRBBVW&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=12G240285S0J2PVH29D0

Whole wheat pizza @ home

I made a mini (healthier…in-my-eyes) whole wheat pizza last night. Howie agreed – it was good, he wanted some and hovered over me the whole time just to get a taste.

I can’t find a pic of the pre-made crust online – but it is Stop & Shop brand – they make a large crust and a smaller crust. They come in white and whole wheat. I did the whole wheat, with chunky tomatoes, light cheese, a dab of olive oil and a bunch of veggies (my faves are sliced tomatoes and fresh spinach, they melt nicely with the cheese). I threw everything on top, sprinkled some oregano and random spices on – popped it in the oven for around 10 mins – and boom, yummy dinner – and healthier than regular pizza.

A good tea for a miserable day…

When it’s cold out…I’d like to reach for a large cup of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows – but my ‘self control’ (ha) usually convinces me that I’m better off not going there. Instead, I’ll often reach for coffee – but after a couple of cups, I don’t always feel good. I get gittery.  Sometimes water just doesn’t cut it and on a cold day I need something warm and something that can mimimize my hunger. Some herbal teas are too flowery, others are too fruity and I feel like I’m drinking watered down juice.

The other day, I was in Stop & Shop (natural food aisle) and decide to try this Yogi tea called ‘Detox.’ Which promotes healthy liver and kidney function. I thought to myself ‘hmmm, I did have a few drinks last night…I could use some detox.’ I brought a box home for under $5. I love the spicey smell of this tea but it is also slightly sweet. I’ve had this after dinner or in the afternoon and I’ve found that the slight spice curbs my hunger.

I’ve always liked this line of teas – they have a great variety. I love the packaging, the detail they put into ‘what tea is meant for what ailment/need.’ There are even little feel-good quotes on each tea bag tag. I’d highly suggest some Yogi tea – it can be found at Stop & Shop/Whole Foods etc.
